Racializing Agreements

This course focuses on techniques to deepen our relationship with the Six Agreements using a racialized lens, with the aim of gradually progressing towards true race equity.

Duration: 30 Mins
Course overview

The Six Agreements are some of the best tools that we can offer any person or organization that is looking for support in becoming more racially equitable. The Agreements operate in two different ways: first, as a personal roadmap for how to engage and participate in conversations about race. As an example, the Agreements tell us that we should be listening to understand others and should be speaking our truth in a responsible manner.

Secondly, the Agreements serve as an accountability tool for organizations. For example, organizations can ask themselves if their employees can speak the truth about race without the fear of being reprimanded, or whether all their staff genuinely experience a sense of belonging.

By the end of this course, you will be able to (a) examine the six agreements with a racialized lens gained in the Reframing Racism modules, (b) implement Agreements to navigate conversations about race in a safer, more productive manner, and (c) integrate Agreements into everyday work to make the organization more racially equitable.
